So we got uh again Wimby um and Kat, you know, is uh Kat Wimby's kryptonite. We got to talk about that. We got to talk about Keys to game two. This gonna start in about 90 minutes. Uh we've got to talk about Dylan Harper, Ron Harper son. Shout out to Ron Harper. Uh man, you know, he's people saying he's uh amazing and should be getting more minutes. Only got you know three uh minutes, 33 seconds in the fourth quarter. We got to talk about that. Jalen Brunson, man. Hey, big body Brunson, as Perk would say. He uh is looking to be one of the best bucket getters in the league. Is he the best? We got to talk about that. Uh we got a rehash on OKC. Uh OKC, they got a lot of hate, some love, but mostly hate during the uh season there. And uh the Spurs took him out. So is it time to panic? Do they need to get Giannis? What's up? We got to talk about that and then lock it in. We got to give you our picks for tonight and the rest of the series and so forth. So uh, but without further ado, man, hey, you know, we know Sims, you know, you you said the uh Spurs would uh not only be in the finals, you said they will win the championship. Uh so you know, um, man, you know, you want to take uh I mean they're down 0-1 though, but you want to take uh a victory lap on that, my man?

I need to get back the clip because everybody knows I'm hardcore Detroit, but I actually predicted the Knicks going up against the Spurs. So I have both of these two going up against each other. Other, and if we go back and look at the tape, I had the Spurs winning, and I still stick to the same thing: Spurs and six.

Um, the Pistons, uh, so you you said the Knicks, but that was on the eve of game seven of the Easter Coffers semi-finals. So you that is correct.

get into this here. We'll get back to all the picking and predictions, but uh let's talk about man that game and uh what happened there. So Wimby again uh had a disappearing act here. I don't know, it's a kind of a recurring theme here when we get to certain games. We don't hear about that that much in the in the media spaces. We seem to only hear about the you know the the big explosions and whatnot. But um, man, that looked like some kryptonite the other night with uh cat there. There were some blowbys. Uh there was a lot going on, Diego. Man, what what's your take on um the cat and wemby matchup?

Yeah, I really like it. I like how Kat is uh playing physical with him and he's using his size, just you know, stop Wimby from getting in the paint and get to get where he wants to go, and uh just making him shoot those outside shots, and you know, and he can make those if he's open, but you know, if he's contested and if it's you know a hot uh a game that he hasn't really isn't really used to, like the finals, he's gonna struggle. And um, yeah, because we saw in the OKC Thunder series when Hartenstein was guarding him for a little while, he was getting he got he he uh struggled initially. So um, yeah, and I think Kat's an even better matchup, honestly. So uh yeah, I think this is definitely Wimby's kryptonite. This is he's gonna be struggling for a lot of the series.

Yeah, then we got our guy Mitchell Robinson. Uh yeah, and Mitchell Robinson too. Yeah, him coming on as well. Okay, all right. What what's your take on that, Sim?

You all use the word kryptonite. There ain't no kryptonite there. What you saw was uh Wimby getting it in his own head, and uh I really fought the coaches because Wimby has got to get that ball in a lower uh position. He's got to get it uh he doesn't have to be in the post, but he has to get it lower. He was way too far outside. I will say this cat draws him um away from the basket. So that is a that that that is a good thing. I do I do agree a hundred percent with that, but on offense, that's for defense, but on offense, he's got to get the ball more down low. Because if you look if you remember in the first quarter, there was uh uh two uh uh there were two plays in particular where he went turn and spent on him again. He wasn't in the post, but Kat had to follow him pretty much. Well, why are you shooting all these threes? And he's just like he got into that little thing there, all these little outside shots. Uh, I don't know why they don't run them off of a pick play that's not ball related to one side to where he can like reposition himself further down low, and they start him with the ball out, you know, with the ball too far up top. Uh, I think you're gonna see a big change tonight. We're gonna we're gonna know immediately by where he starts getting the ball at. And hopefully somebody in his in his head and telling him to get back down and say he can go get those 41 because they can't they can't check him.

Yeah, well, you know, um man, shout out to um, you know, my producer Emmanuel. Um, you know, uh man, he uh gave me some great stats here. So for one, you know, Cat was credited for four of the six turnovers because Wemby had six turnovers, um, not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, the six turnovers uh in that last game. Uh it's been a continued trend. So he shot three for 14, 21.4 percent against towns in half-court possessions across all three games. So this is not a one-game anomaly. This is uh becoming a trend. I mean, shooting 21 against cat over over this time, man. So uh yeah, I don't I don't know if that's magically going to stop. They're gonna have to maybe switch, get somebody else on him. But actually, I was hearing on NBA radio today. OG Hannanobley, who people thought were gonna check him, he has an even better percentage against against him. He's he has the number one percentage against him in the NBA. So you got him, then you got Kat, then we got our guy Mitchell Robinson coming there, man. So uh they're gonna be coming in waves, man. I don't know. It might be uh it might be a difficult, tall task for this. Might actually be the kryptonite. This might be that bad, that bad matchup.

Wemby's also been uh forced to shoot a lot of free throws. I mean he shot he shot, I think he made like 12 free throws out of his um oh my gosh. I forget how many points he has. I mean, since we want to talk about how many free throws shoots for only one player in the league, I just wanted to mention that uh Wemby also a lot of his points did he foul bait?

Game 2 Keys Beyond Wemby

All right, so so for game two, so going into game two. Um, you know, we'll talk about the some of the these keys here. So again, Sims, you said you know they need to get Wemby in the paint more, get him closer, actually play like he's 7'5, you know, do that instead of shooting fadeaways like Jason Tatum. Diego, what are some more of the keys to uh to this game tonight?

Um, yeah, obviously stopping Wemby, which I think they got covered. Honestly, they got enough matchups for him. But um, yeah, just in containing like all the guards, I would say that they have, making sure that uh the role players don't go off, like Champagny, hopefully he doesn't make a lot of threes. Um, you know, guys like preventing guys like Harper, Fox, Castle to go off. I think that's the key, honestly. I don't see Wemby having a having a great series. I think they're gonna have to stop the uh role players as well from going crazy. And um also, and for the Knicks, um, I think uh Brunson has to shoot a better percentage for them to keep on winning because he he did only shoot about 30% in the fourth quarter. He shot a very good percentage, but and throughout the game was only about 30%. So I think and I think he's gonna get better and get adjusted to these athletic guards that he's got to face up with.

Dylan Harper Minutes And Spurs Guards

So speaking of the role players, then let's uh talk about you know uh Dylan Harper, who has been uh been balling. He definitely looked out of all the Spurs, he looked the most comfortable uh out there. If you, you know, watch it, watch that game. He looked great and been a lot of controversy of him only getting three minutes, 33 seconds in that fourth quarter after how you know well he played in that that first half. Um, you know, hearing a lot, a lot about him in this in the this uh postseason, you know, a lot of times the the backup QB, you know, there's a lot of love for the backup QB, especially when the person in the starting role starts to struggle a little bit. And we know, you know, the starting uh point guard is struggling a little bit. And uh when Harper's been in there, he's been playing well. But uh, Diego, what's your take on Harper, man? Does he need more more minutes or what's what's going on with him?

Um, I mean, I think he he's a very good player, obviously. I wouldn't start him just yet. Um, I was I still trust for the Spurs, all the guards they have in there. But if he if he if he's having a rhythm throughout a lot of the game and it comes to the fourth quarter, and you know, and you need a guy that's in a rhythm, you should of course give him more minutes in that fourth quarter. But like I don't know if I'd put him in the starting lineup yet, unless it's like a few more games to where like you have starters playing bad and stuff.

Um, let me look uh shout out to my stat guy, like you had too. Let me look shout out to my stat guy, Mike Sims. Um I actually agree with Diego in the fact that Derek uh Darren Fox and Vassal, they have got to show up. Uh Harper's right where he needs to be at. Those guys, uh Fox went three for 13, Vassal went four for 11. You can't have that. You can't you just can't have that. And we've all seen those guys are way better than that. Castle's the only one up that's holding up his field goal percentage. Yeah, um, you need that spark coming off the the bench or whatever stuff. You you gotta have that. And I'm you know, I'm gonna always rep the pistons. That and I and when I look at spark coming off the bench, I go Vinny Johnson. So you gotta have that Vinnie Johnson microwave, baby. What you talking about? Put it in just like popcorn and pop it up. Yeah, so a harper there, right where he needs to be at. You just gotta get the mother to you know, and come on, Fox is a veteran, you know. Fox is supposed to be doing his thing. He ain't, you know, he ain't been really showing up like he like he needs to.

Yeah, yeah, I think he's definitely probably you know struggling from from that uh that ankle ankle injury. I don't think he's all the way right with that. Um, you know, they've got to just you know utilize him to distribute the ball, um, you know, take care of the ball, which he's he's pretty much done. But as far as scoring, uh, he was definitely non-existent in that in that first game. Another interesting stat here is that once they took um Dylan Harper out, they only scored Spurs only scored five points after that. Well, and they were all by Wimby.

Yeah, so yeah, I wouldn't be shocked if uh Spurs let Fox go after this year. Honestly. Because like they got a lot of young guards, and um, you know, yeah, that would just be an extra spot for one of those guys to take.

Uh, you know, hadn't heard, I guess he was, you know, second pick, but all the talk was about Cooper Flag, um, you know, Khan Knipple, um, our guy, um, man, who's our guy? Yeah, yeah, Edge Comb. I just all of them, but uh man, you look at it now, you know, just like how they won to take SGA's MVP award. I'm surprised the media hadn't won the Cooper Flags Award and go ahead and give it to Dylan Harper. Since we're giving, you know.

When you have to have a bucket, Brunson clearly is is showing that he's at the top of that list of any list that you have. But the reason why SGA is just built different, just seen differently, is because some of the blatant ones like that. What really blew it out is that one where nobody, you know, during the the uh conference finals, well, he didn't get touched at all, you know, and and and they did call it and it got it got reviewed and called back, but that right there just magnifies the whole overall presence, and that's part of his problem, man. Man, because he fell, he fell down and nobody touched him.

If I need a bucket, I that's who I want. And what why I'm gonna give him the edge on this from the three-pointer because he's a better three-point shooter. Because if you need a bucket, again, it might be a midi, I might have to get all the way to the cup, I might have to shoot a floater, or I might have to fire a three. And Brunson can do any of them, any of them right now, and right now at a high level, I can get any of them. He even showed he could even finish over Wimby, and SGA did it some, and he his MIDI. I don't want nobody over SGA when it comes to a MIDI, but Brunson, the the ability to hit that three. If SJA can hit it, but he's still improving it. But the three and just all the the um skills that he has, I'm gonna give him the slight edge. I'm gonna have Brunson one, I'm gonna have SGA two. Lord, number three. Man, that's so tough. I'll probably I go ahead and draw, I'll probably go Luca and go three. He's gonna find some kind of way. Uh, you know, yeah, I will yeah.

I mean, we saw this last one, he was already doing it through in the finals, but even him in the first half having a bad half. Um, got to give a lot of credit to him that he picked and choose really well. And uh, you and I had a conversation a little while back about how you know he he's becoming that guy now. Okay, we need a bucket, just like we're saying right now. Yeah, and he and he took it over and he did all of those. He did a three-point shot, he took it. He was this this is what people gotta really look at with him now. He he picked and choose when he saw Wimby wasn't inside when he did those inside buckets. Wimby was nowhere around, and he he attacked it quick. Go back and look at the video. He he attacked quick because he saw Wimby wasn't in place, you know. So, what does that say? He he watching the whole game, his whole his whole intellect right now. Uh intellect is really advancing now in in in seeing the whole game in real time. Oh, oh no doubt, yeah. He is down low. I gotta I gotta shoot the midi. Oh, yeah, wait a minute. Anybody coming out here to the three-point line? I'm gonna shoot a three. Oh, he ain't down low. Oh, I'm going straight to the basket.

He'll he'll be he'll be fine, but yeah, he just gotta take a couple aspirins and get rid of the migraine.

And again, with um the fact of J Dub, their you know, second best player, uh, their top two and three scores to be out. I don't know any team that would win the title without their second and third best score. That that's like saying Jordan would have won if uh Pippen and Grant got hurt. Like, you know, that's a lot. And I don't think people are giving, I don't think people are giving those injuries enough uh uh enough credit. Uh you know, to go seven, to go as far as they did, they all almost got them, even you know, with with that. So I would I would stand pat. I would um you know they have that fire under them. That's why I think it's very critical for the Knicks and the you know the Spurs this year. I mean, a lot of people say, hey, you're gonna be back, you're looking great, looking great, but you never know what what can happen. So um, you know, both teams can be there now, may not ever get back, you know what I mean. So you have to um take advantage of the opportunity that is that is there right now. So yeah, I think they should definitely be patient. Come back. They have a ton of picks. There's so much of you know room that they have. I wouldn't panic and bring him in. Now, if I'm the Spurs, I might panic after this year and uh maybe go and bring uh bring the freak in. But I wouldn't do that if I'm if I'm OKC. It's too much of a strong foundation. I definitely wouldn't do that. I definitely wouldn't do that.

But the biggest part of that that people don't want to give credit to is Andrew Boget, that was their center, and they lost him. I believe that was in game five when they lost him as well. Um, so again, we you know we don't want to make injuries as an excuse, but it is a factor. So I feel I say all that to say that team still had enough. They had boget, they had those pieces, and they lost all their depth because they went from that team being their whole model on their t-shirt was strength in numbers, their whole model was strength in numbers, and they had a whole starting unit on their bench. They lost all that depth when they brought KD in. So, to your point, if um you know the uh Thunder were to make a move like that, if Giannis stayed healthy, yeah, they probably get a chip. But what's the long-term uh ramifications of that?
